Who are you?

I’m David Stein and I’m a SQL DBA currently live in a suburb of Dallas, Texas.   I have been working with SQL for the past 7 years, primarily in regards to the Made2Manage ERP system.  I work for a manufacturer of high tech products and occasionally consult independently. My work has given me a wealth of experience with SQL, Crystal Reports, and the Made2Manage ERP system.

It’s important to note that the opinions expressed in this blog are my own and do not represent Made2Manage or my employer in any way.

Why do you blog?

I choose to blog for a few reasons.  First, much of what I know was learned through years of trial and error.  I was “promoted” to Made2Manage Administrator, and subsequently SQL DBA, without any training or preparation and had virtually no help or advice.  There isn’t a lot of information on the internet for people working with Made2Manage, especially if you want to customize it in any way.  Made2Manage sells customizations to its customers, as do some independent companies, so you don’t find much free information regarding it.

Second, I am hoping to reach out to other developers and users to add to my network of friends and glean knowledge from them.   To that end I want this blog to be a two way conversation and I encourage you to comment on my posts as well as to recommend alternative solutions to the customization challenges I present.

Third, I’m using this blog to document the process of my work.  I find that if I don’t write notes about what I’m doing, then I have to re-invent the wheel every time a similar challenge presents itself in the future.

What else might you blog about?

My other interests include Anakin the Goffin Cockatoo who graciously allows me to share this apartment with him, collecting and playing video games, billiards, and martial arts as I am an Aikido instructor.

How can I contact you?

Feel free to send me your technical and other questions to David@Made2Mentor.com
